The straps can be adjusted separately, allowing you to determine the most comfortable position for the thumb in your sport. The system's straps cross and provide lateral support to the thumb joint. The Push Sports Thumb Brace leaves the palm of the hand free to hold or make contact with any piece of sports equipment. It fits underneath a skier's or goalkeeper's glove and provides protective support during sports.
In the event of damage, irritation or pain in the ligaments on the inside of the thumb. This can be the result of hyperextension during ball-sports, or ‘skier's thumb’. The brace is also indicated in the event of pain in the entire joint at the base of the thumb. The Push Sports Thumb Brace creates an optimal recovery environment for the ligaments and protects the joint against new injuries.
The thumb cap and non-elastic strap are held in position by the wrap-around portion at the base of the brace. The thumb cap comfortably encloses the thumb and acts as an anchoring point for the non-elastic strap. The strap in turn restricts the movements of the thumb joint. The level of restriction is individually adaptable.
Indications:
- (Partial) rupture of the ulnar collateral ligament MCP-1 (skier's thumb)
- Distortion of MCP-1 joint
- Instability in the MCP-1 joint
Contrindications:
- The Push Sports Thumb Brace is not designed to support the CMC-1 joint. In the event of complaints in this joint, such as CMC-1 osteoarthritis, the Push Sports Thumb Brace is not the most suitable solution.
Ensure that the brace is not fitted too tightly. Use the brace only for the appropriate indications. Pain is always a warning sign. Proper use of your Push Sports brace may require diagnosis by a doctor or therapist. If pain or complaints persist without a clear cause, it is recommended that you visit your GP, physiotherapist or sports physician.
When using the brace in situations where a glove is typically worn, it is recommended to wear the brace underneath the glove.
Push Sports braces were designed to be worn on an undamaged skin. Damaged skin must first be covered with suitable material.
